More pictures:     In January 2003, the village was flooded from the ford to all around the War Memorial. Also, Hayward
Bridge approach was under water (our car sucked water into its engine there) and the road to Berinsfield was flooded due to a problem with
the storm drain at the first corner out of the village, Fortunately only about 4 houses were actually flooded inside. We measured the
maximum height of the river on the 'yardstick' at the ford as 49.70 (metres above sea level) on 01Jan2003, nearly 2½ metres above the usual summer
minimum of about 47.40: the river remained over 49m until the end of January. This was the worst flooding since 1988 when the water also
lapped 50m. The worst flooding in living memory was in 1947, the level used in the Environment Agency flood map (see the Environment Agency web site.). The Little Barn Cottage
