after. Refuse and recycling are collected free, an optional garden waste collection service is available for a fee, see South Oxfordshire District Council (SODC) website
www.southoxon.gov.uk for more details. (Link on through Environment, Rubbish Collection.)
In summary, the council collects paper, cardboard, cans, cartons, plastics and textiles from the kerbside. Clean clothing in bags can be
recycled here in the village by depositing in the container in the Catherine Wheel carpark. Glass bottles have to be taken to Dorchester
(enter Dorchester, turn left up the old main road, skip is at end), or Stadhampton (Crazy Bear carpark). Some supermarkets have recycling
stations, the one at Abingdon's Tesco will take batteries (cells) e.g. torch batteries. Comprehensive Council recycling stations for all kinds
of recycling and waste can be found off the Oxford ring road at Redbridge, and, slightly closer, at Oakley Wood near Ewelme (off the A4130 Wallingford to Henley
road, turn left approximately 2 miles from roundabout at Crowmarsh)

The villages's Sue Hurley organises a Hospital driving scheme and much more from the Berinsfield Information & Volunteer
Centre. Call her on 343044. Quoting from an article she wrote for the Dec 2006 Drayton St. Leonard News & Views:
The Centre is a small charity working in Berinsfield and the surrrounding villages, offering
information and advise, providing welfare rights, debt counseling, advocacy, help with form filling, consumer queries and
many other things.
We also have a Hospital driving scheme, a Craft workshop, run coffee mornings for a meeting place, ... ... ... it is also
in our remit to identify or create projects for helping people to stay in their own homes.
For all these projects we have volunteers who have the relevant training, but as always volunteers move on and we are now
recruiting volunteers for the Advice Centre and the Driving Scheme.
If you would like to help either of these projects please contact Sue on 343044.
