Welcome to the Drayton St Leonard Information page |
|
This web page has been created to provide information about Drayton St Leonard and what we do here in our village. It is intended to be a place to share information about activities, events and people in the village. If you would like your event or news to be added to the site then please contact me by email. The originator of this site was Dave Hewitt. In April 2003 Steve Cox took over as the new webmaster. The design of this web site has deliberately been kept simple and uncluttered to enhance speed and provide clear and concise information, without unecessary graphics or fancy scripts that slow down loading time. Also the structure of the site has been kept simple, to make it easy to find the information that you want without having to wade through lots of confusing links. The majority of the site was simply hand coded in HTML. It is now hosted on the Internet courtesy of iofm.net Drayton St Leonard Parish Council have kindly funded the domain name registration and web page forwarding costs. The domain name draytonstleonard.co.uk is registered to Dave Hewitt on behalf of the whole village. Registration and web page redirection courtesy of UK2.net. There is also a "back door" way to get to this site http://go.to/draytonstleonard This may prove useful if the domain name server is ever down. If you want to register your domain name with UK2.net, or find
out more then follow this link: . Thanks to Network54.com for the discussion forum and events forum, but I do apologise for the pop up adverts that they impose on us. The site was originally created on 19th September 1999. The discussion forum was added on 29th September 2000 and the events forum on 20th March 2001. For details of latest updates and dates see the Update Log Page for details. Recently I have reformatted the whole site. All pages are now printer friendly and should fit onto an A4 page without loosing bits of the right hand side of the page. This does however mean that if you are using a screen resolution of 640 * 400 you will have to scroll sideways to view the whole of the pages. So, I recommend using a screen resolution of 800 * 600 or higher. Following an earlier bug (now corrected), I now check that all pages on this site are compatible with Microsoft Internet Explorer 6. If you find any errors or bugs (while using any browser) please report them to me so I can investigate. All of this site is non-commercial and free of advertising, except the Discussion forum and the Events and activities forum. These are "free" services hosted by an independent source and the banner advert at the top of these pages is their way of funding them. The advertising on these pages is not related in any way to this site. If you want to contribute your own 'page' to this site, for instance to publish the activities of a particular club or society, then contact me to discuss how to do this. Your comments are welcome and I am always open to sugestions for improving the site or adding extra information. want further information about anything detailed on the site please Please contact me on email if you have some information that you feel is appropriate to be added to the site or if you would like more information about any topics mentioned in the site. Or feel free to use the discussion forum. To help promote small community web sites, I am keen to encourage webmasters of similar sites to put a link on their site to this one. Likewise if you run a community web site and want me to add a link to it from this site please notify me and I will be glad to oblige. I am particularly keen to add links to other village websites, especially if they are close to Drayton St Leonard. Note to other webmasters: You may if you wish copy any of the html code used to create this site, however there is nothing particularly special or unique about it. |
